DreamHack Masters Bucharest 2014 is an event suited for all ages and all cosplayers, regardless of their participation in the Cosplay Contest.
Cosplays have free entrance for the event and the access will be based on the outfit.
Registration into the Cosplay cosplay contest must be submitted until October 12.
The Cosplay Contest will be split in two categories:
Saturday:
- Individual performance – the admitted cosplayers will take part in the preselection for Sunday’s main contest – only 20 cosplayers will be selected.
- Group performance – the group portrayal on the venue stage will be the main criteria – only 5 groups will be selected for Sunday’s main contest.
Sunday:
- Individual performance – the main criteria will be both the costume details and the stage performance – limited to the 20 preselected cosplayers.
- Group stage – the main criteria will be both the costume details and the stage performance – limited to the 5 preselected groups.
- The contestants are allowed to enter both group and individual competition as long as they use the same costume.
- Cosplayers will be notified via e-mail on October 10 regarding their admission in the contest.

Costume evaluation / Eligibility / Stage setup / General info
Costume evaluation
- The Cosplay staff will take both the costume and its presentation into account. Most points will be awarded for the costume’s accuracy. Purchased or commissioned costumes will be disqualified.
- The cosplay contest will be held on all three days of the event.
- All contestant will have a small presentation – up to a minute – during which they can showcase their costume.
- Each contestant will have a single performance.
- The Cosplay staff is free to give out as many prizes as possible (more than initially announced)
Eligibility
- The Cosplay contest is open to characters from video games, anime, manga, movie or TV series.
- All contestats must read, accept and follow the Cosplay contest rules outlined on this page.
- By registering in the Cosplay contest, all participants give their consent for DreamHack Bucharest to use images with their likeness for promotional purposes via photographs and/or videos.
- All contestants must submit any relevant audio assets by October 10, 2014. Any asset sent after this deadline will not be used on the venue stage.
- Any contestant who breaks the DreamHack Bucharest rules of conduct will be disqualified.
Stage setup
- Each contestant will use the audio they sent (60 seconds). The contest registration is not valid without the audio.
- Different light types are available.
- No special effects are allowed. If needed, special effects could be provided by the organizers, depending on how complex they are.
- Microphones will not be provided. If you have a message, please record it at attach it to the registration audio.
General Info
- DreamHack Masters Bucharest 2014 is an event suited for all ages.
- Offensive language is strictly prohibited – no rasial or sexual references, harsh language, etc.
- Harassment is strictly prohibited.
- All sexually-explicit jokes must have a non-sexual interpretation which is just as evident.
- Be smart, not rude! If you think you have a costume or presentation which might be risky or offensive, it probably is.
- If you have any questions regarding the event or costumes, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Cosplay staff via the contact page.
- You’re allowed to surprise the audience, but not the staff. So no fire, flames, dry ice, wind machines, lasers, liquids or pressurized gases are allowed.
- Don’t jump on or off the stage – use only the designated entrances and exits.
- All weapons must be approved by the Cosplay staff first. Pointing weapons at someone other than your cosplay group will not be tolerated. Any actions involving weapons must first be approved by the Cosplay staff.
- Contestants must not use their time on the venue stage for any political, religious, offensive or other personal actions not connected to their presentation.
- All decisions made by the Cosplay staff are final.
DreamHack Masters Bucharest 2014 Cosplay Contest Jury
Elffi – one of the most known international male Cosplayers has been invited to be part of this year’s Cosplay Contest at DreamHack Masters Bucharest 2014.
As a result, he will be one of the Judges of the Cosplay Contest, a Star guest and you will also be able to visit his booth in the Cosplay Area.
Cosplay Gen – one of the most renowned cosplay publications in the world – has been invited this year to be a part of the Cosplay Contest at DreamHack Masters Bucharest 2014.
Ruxandra Târcă (editor-in-chief) has been invited to be one of the Judges of the Cosplay Contest. You will be able to meet Ruxandra in the Cosplay Area during the 3 days of the event for photos or cosplay related questions.
The cosplay contest has steadily become one of the main attractions of DreamHack Bucharest, where passionate cosplayers take the stage to showcase their work and love for this cultural phenomenon and the characters they bring to life.
For the second year in a row, was crowned the best cosplayer at DreamHack Bucharest, thanks to an impressive costume inspired by the League of Legends champion Vi. Moreover, Livia will go on to represent Romania in the international cosplay contest at the Japan Expo 2014 in Paris, France.
Just like before, cosplayers will have free entry to DreamHack Masters Bucharest 2014, provided they have an appropriate costume (no, having a Teemo Hat does not mean you’re a cosplayer).
Also, participation in the contest is not mandatory. So feel free to cosplay during the event without competing against anyone, you don’t feel like it.
